The Seaport District is located just east of Fort Point Channel and was one a place filled with warehouses and shipping piers. This area now makes up the center of the Boston convention and exhibit center and the Seaport World Trade Center which draws in thousands of visitors each year. Located in very close proximity to Boston's Financial District and Chinatown, the Seaport District offers many restaurants, meeting places and activities.
The Institute of Contemporary Art is within a short walk from the Seaport District and features edgy art, architecture and design which is a must see for anyone visiting the Seaport District. Additional things to do within walking distance of the Seaport District include a visit to the Boston Children's Museum and Harborwalk. South Station is also close by making the Seaport District a very accessible part of the Boston area. Seaport District is a tight knit neighborhood of Irish Americans. The area along the waterfront has been updated and offers many different seafood restaurants and convention style meeting centers. The addition of hotels and condos in the Seaport District have brought in thousands of new residents, business people and visitors over the years making the Seaport District a now very busy area. The Center for Contemporary Art is also located in the Seaport District making this south Boston area a key attraction for art enthusiasts. Seaport District is home to the Bank of America Pavilion which is one of Boston's biggest concert venues and also has featured some of the biggest names in the music industry. Where the Seaport District was once an area that was seldom visited unless you were a fisherman or dock worker, this thriving Boston area is now a place to visit for everything from dining and entertainment to business and relaxation. |
