Prudential Area

The Prudential Building or Prudential Tower is located in Boston and is part of the Prudential Center complex which stands behind the John Hancock Tower in Boston and was designed by Charles Luckman and Associates for the Prudential Insurance company. The building contains more than 1.2 million square fee of commercial and retail space and the entire center is the tallest building in Boston.

Prudential Center is the area of Boston that surrounds the Prudential Tower which is located at 800 Boylston Street. The area is a total of 23 acres that is in the Back Bay neighborhood. A massive shopping mall and shops at the Prudential Center are located at the base of the center. Locals know the area as the Pru which is bordered by the following streets: Belvedere, Dalton, Boylston, Exeter and Huntington Avenue.

Three large skyscrapers create the Prudential Center area including a recently completed skyscraper that is located at 111 Huntington Avenue which was completed in 2002. The Colonnade Hotel located at 120 Huntington Avenue is located directly across the street from the skyscraper. Also connected to the Prudential Center is the Haynes Convention Center which is a mixed use development area that was awarded the Urban Land Institute's Best Mixed Use Development Award in 2006.

Indoor connections to the Prudential and Back Bay stops for MBTA are located inside the Prudential Center. The Prudential stop is the first along the Green Line E Branch and the Back Bay is an Orange Line stop that is accessible via the Copley Place mall. Back Bay is also served by Amtrak and offers that ability to travel by the Acela high speed train which travels all the way to New York City's Penn Station.
